MARYSVILLE — Once again, Leifer Manor will host this summer’s Strawberry Festival fashion show which begins at noon on June 16.
A frequent site for weddings during the year, the reception hall will lend its picturesque setting to the annual luncheon, the proceeds from which go toward the scholarship fund for the festival royalty.
Perhaps a future benefactor of the festival scholarship will be 6-year-old Megan Berginc, who makes her modeling debut at this year’s show on June 16. While it’s her first turn down the catwalk, Berginc is not a stranger to the spotlight. This year, she won the Cinderella Scholarship Pageant in Burlington, taking the crown for Skagit County. But her mom, Monica, emphasizes that she opted for a pageant that emphasizes natural and inner beauty, less the kind that have been made infamous for fake tans and fake eyelashes, she said.
“What I like about them is they don’t go just on looks. They do an onstage interview, a private interview and judge them on a casual outfit,” Monica Berginc said, adding that like the pageant, she got her daughter involved in the fashion show to encourage her daughter to pursue her interests. “I was shy when I was a kid and I want to help her overcome that.”
A studio photographer who specializes in Victorian and fairy scenes designed for young girls, Berginc will also support the fashion show by offering a photo shoot in her studio as a raffle prize at this year’s lunch.
Megan, who also enjoys playing checkers and swimming, is looking forward to the dresses and bright lights.
But, she added, “I’m a little bit nervous. It’s my first time.”
The show will begin at noon with a lunch provided by Venetti’s Catering. Tickets are $20 and available at Attic Secrets Tea Room, Details Home Decor and MPAC.
