Festival Royalty candidates make their rounds

MARYSVILLE — The Marysville Strawberry Festival Royalty Candidates are making their rounds throughout the community, before the Strawberry Festival’s April Friesner Memorial Royalty Scholarship Pageant kicks off March 14 at 7 p.m. in the Marysville-Pilchuck High School Auditorium.

M-PHS juniors Samantha Hall, Shelby Hintze and Rebecca Thomas, M-PHS seniors Krisel Juco and Azzlinn Morales, Lakewood High School senior Jessica LaPlante and Arts and Technology School senior Erin McPherson have already appeared at meetings of the Marysville Morning Rotary, the Marysville School District Board of Directors and the Marysville Kiwanis.

Coming up this month, the Royalty Candidates are scheduled to appear before the Marysville City Council Feb. 9, the Maryfest Board of Directors Feb. 17, the Lakewood School District Board of Directors Feb. 18 and the Marysville Noon Rotary Feb. 25.

Of these seven young women, three will be chosen as Senior Royalty, with one Queen and two Princesses, while Maryfest has only received one application for its three Junior Royalty openings, which are open to all sixth-grade girls and boys attending or living within the Marysville or Lakewood school districts.

Applications and qualifications for the Junior Royalty openings can be found on the Maryfest Web site at www.maryfest.com, and Royalty will be crowned at the Pageant, which has an admission of $5.
