EVERETT — Five Marysville seventh-graders were among a group of students selected to participate in the World’s Largest Concert.

Students from Immaculate Conception & Our Lady of Perpetual Help School will record a music videos of “Children of the World” and “American Goes West,” which will be included in a montage of music videos produced and recorded by music students throughout the world on March 11.

Marysville students Dominic Barashkoff, Michael Myers, Jacob Groth, Billy Jo Dixon and Payton Donaldson will be among the students taking part in the concert.

Students from the school were selected to participate based on a creative proposal submitted in 2009, according to a release. Parts of their performances will be on a DVD, which will be played by classrooms around the world.

The seventh-grade students will be directed by music and arts director Mary Chris Goldstein.

“The opportunity for national exposure and recognition of our schools is wonderful,” Goldstein said. “The seventh-grade students have worked incredibly hard since September learning the music, adding the basic choreography and our special additions that made our proposal unique. They are very excited about the taping and are looking forward to seeing clips of our performances on the DVD.”

The World’s Largest Concert, hosted by the National Association of Music Education, has been part of Music in Our Schools Month each March since 1985.

The music association is the world’s largest arts education organization, according to the release.

Immaculate Conception & Our Lady of Perpetual Help School is located in Everett, and is Snohomish County’s oldest Catholic school.
