Flooding closes parts of Jennings Park, Strawberry Fields

MARYSVILLE — The city of Marysville has not been immune from the flooding that’s hit North Snohomish County.

As of Jan. 7, walking trails and other areas of both Jennings Park, including the Lions Centennial Pavilion, and Strawberry Fields, including the off-leash dog park, have been closed to the public due to the flooding of Allen and Quil Ceda creeks, respectively.

Mike Robinson, city of Marysville park maintenance manager, estimated that flood waters had raised the creek levels as much as three feet, which he deemed “a significant amount” for the levels one would tend to expect in relatively flat, urban areas.

“We’re keeping a close eye on the weather and the water levels,” Robinson said. “Honestly, we’re not really expecting to see much of a change until Friday [Jan. 9].”
