MARYSVILLE — Community get-togethers will be giving boosts to Marysville schools on Thursday, May 17, and Saturday, May 19.
Marysville Mountain View High School students are inviting community members to a barbecue and silent auction on May 17 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in their campus commons.
The auction bids and $7 rib dinners will help fund Family, Career and Community Leaders of America students seeking to compete in at the FCCLA national conference in Orlando, Fla.
Quilts, jewelry and massages are just a few of the items and services available for purchase at the event.
The 10th Street Middle School, located at 7204 27th Ave. NE, will be kicking off the first in what event organizers hope will become an annual series of “Bulldog Games” on May 19 from noon to 4 p.m.
Activities are set to include field accuracy and agility games, an art run/walk and professional demonstrations, as well as vendors.
During the event, 10th Street Social Studies teacher Eric Hanson will attempt to run 26 miles in one day, for the first time since he’s lost weight and gotten fit. His story can be found at online at www.10thstreetboosters.org.
All proceeds raised from the Bulldog Games will be used to benefit the school.
Laura Berry, organizer of a number of community cleanups of the Cascade Elementary campus, will host a rummage sale at her home on May 19 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with all proceeds going toward the beautification of the school’s grounds.
Local artist Heidi Barnett will be contributing a mural of a cougar to the school free of charge, albeit with Berry’s group supplying her with the materials to create the mural.
“Many members of the community have stepped up and joined us in showing our love for this school and giving its students a school to be proud of,” Berry said.
