MARYSVILLE — The Christian-based Grace Academy graduated 14 students in a ceremony held June 6 at the school.

Student Naomi Sleppy was named class Valedictorian, while Kathryn Hawke took home Salutatorian honors.

Having attended the K-12 Grace Academy for nine years, Naomi will enter the School of Ministry Art Northwest in the fall, majoring in Bible/ministry.

A five-year Grace student, Kathryn plans to go on to the University of Washington.

Both students were members of the National Honor Society, recipients of the President’s Education Award and ended their senior years with 4.0 grade point averages.

Naomi also was recognized with the Washington State Principal’s Scholars Program Award, while Kathryn won the Principal’s Leadership Award.

Although she was the class salutatorian, Kathryn gave the traditional student graduation speech.

“Congratulations Class of 2008,” Kathryn said in part. “We finally did it. We’ve definitely had some good times together. Now as our time together is ending and as we step off into this new phase in life, I hope and pray that we would stay away from the ways of the world, that we would remember to listen to God, and that we would remember to trust in God’s plan for us.”
