A fire displaced a family of three and caused approximately $30,000 of damage to the contents of their home in Marysville on the evening of Nov. 3.
The neighbors reported seeing smoke and flames at 4:40 p.m. in the 5300 block of 102nd Place NE. The residents were home at the time of the fire and safely exited the two-story house. Their cat was found and brought to safety by the firefighters.
Firefighters from the Marysville, Arlington and Getchell fire districts responded quickly and brought the fire under control, with a total manpower of 16. No one was injured.
The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s office determined the fire started in the garage, when electrical power and extension cords were covered with combustible materials.
Fire damage was contained to the garage, but the family of three has been displaced and is receiving assistance from the Red Cross.
The Marysville Fire District would like to remind you to always keep electrical cords clear of combustibles, and to be sure that you have working smoke alarms in all areas of your home where someone might sleep.
