MARYSVILLE — The Marysville Chapter of Soroptimist International is inviting the community to the Marysville-Pilchuck High School Auditorium again on Tuesday, April 15, from 7-9 p.m., as part of the group’s continued commitment to raising awareness about human sex trafficking.

“Human trafficking — sex trafficking — is a serious issue, both locally and world wide,” said Marysville Soroptimist Board member Elaine Hanson, who received a city of Marysville Volunteer of the Month Award last year in part for her years of raising awareness about human sex trafficking and its impacts on young women. “We have local girls in Snohomish County who have been recruited for the local sex trade. Sex trafficking is the second largest and fastest growing criminal industry in the world, victimizing millions of people and reaping billions in profits.”

Soroptimist International of Marysville and the Marysville PTA Council are again partnering to conduct a community awareness event on combating human sex trafficking, on April 15, in the M-PHS Auditorium, located at 5611 108th St. NE.
