TULALIP – Overnight drivers who use Interstate 5 through the Tulalip-Marysville area should plan on a full closure of all southbound lanes on Tuesday, Dec. 22.

Contractor crews working on a Tulalip Tribes project to rebuild the 116th Street overpass will close the lanes from 1 to 3 a.m.

During the closure, southbound drivers will exit I-5 on the 116th Street offramp and then immediately re-enter the interstate using the onramp. Washington State Patrol troopers will control traffic.

The closure is necessary while the contractor crew moves large pieces of construction equipment across I-5 and into the median.

Rebuilding the overpass is part of the Tulalip Tribes project to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow at the I-5/116th Street interchange.
