Monday, Jan. 16, is the deadline for Washington state residents to register online or via mail in time to vote in the Feb. 14 special election, if they haven’t registered or updated their addresses already.

Jan. 16 is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, meaning there won’t be any mail service on that holiday, so people need to remember to get their mail-in registration postmarked before then.

Although the Lakewood School District’s replacement of expiring school programs and operations levy, as well as its capital projects and technology levy, have been pushed back to the April 17 ballot, the Arlington Public Schools’ replacement of expiring school programs and operations levy will still appear on the Feb. 14 ballot.

Citizens can register to vote or update their address online at www.myvote.wa.gov.

People can register online using the MyVote feature on Jan. 16, even though it’s a holiday.

Feb. 6 is the deadline to register in person at your county elections department in time for the Feb. 14 election.

This deadline is meant for Washington citizens who haven’t registered to vote and want to take part in that month’s election.

Counties are sending out military and overseas ballots by Jan. 15 for the February election.
