LAKEWOOD Jonathan Rhinevault, son of Carole Rhinevault, and a member of Troop 81 of Smokey Point/Lakewood, recently earned his Eagle rank, the prestigious and highest rank awarded by the Boy Scouts of America. For his Eagle Scout service project, Rhinevault supervised the building of outdoor worship benches for Faith Lutheran Church, which is the charter organization for Troop 81.
Rhinevault has been a member of the Boy Scouts since the age of six when he joined as a Tiger Cub. As a Cub Scout, he received the Arrow of the Light Award. While a member of Troop 81, Rhinevault served as Assistant Patrol Leader and Senior Patrol leader. He was elected to the Order of the Arrow, an elite part of the Scouting organization into which membership is voted by fellow Scouts. Rhinevault attended the National Scout Jamboree in West Virginia during 2005, as well as Camp Cherry Valley Boy Scout Camp on Catalina Island in 2003 and traveled with his troop to Alaska in 2006.
Rhinevault was presented with his Eagle rank at a ceremony and celebration held at Faith Lutheran Church in Lakewood. Ed Olesen, Troop Chairman, acted as Master of Ceremonies. The Honor Guard escorting Rhinevault, his mother Carole, his sister Patricia, and his uncle Gary and Aunt Louise was comprised of Eagle Scouts Nic Hudon, Nick Schmitz, Matt Hutter, Coulter Olesen, Kyle Meyer and Cody Hamblin. The keynote speaker was Steve Andrews, a member of the Order of the Arrow. Rhinevaults Cub Masters Jeff Santose and Doug Hunter took part in the ceremony as did his former Boy Scout leader Scott Houston, who all shared stories of Rhinevaults Scouting career. An honored guest and participant in the ceremony was Rhinevaults uncle Gary Rhinevault, of Arizona, who attend with his wife, Louise. Rhinevaults sister, Patricia, also participated in the ceremony. Other Eagle Scouts attending were Scottie Houston, Ricky Bates and David Kratovil. Rhinevault received the Eagle Challenge and Oath from long-time friend and fellow Eagle Scout Coulter. Rhinevault presented a Mothers pin and seven yellow roses to his mother which signify each of the Scout ranks. He gave his mentor pins to Ed Olesen, Scott Houston, Carol and Paul Givler and Tracy Smith.
Rhinevault is a 2007 graduate of Arlington High School where he served as an officer in Arlington FFA for three years and as president of his 4-H club, also attending Running Start. Rhinevault is currently working at Costco in Marysville and is a student at Everett Community College. His future plans include attending Washington State University, majoring in engineering.
