OLYMPIA – State lawmakers approved the 2019-21 capital budget Sunday, a $4.9 billion spending plan that includes construction projects for Arlington, Marysville and Tulalip.

The spending plan secured $63 million in projects for the 38th legislative district that serves Marysville and Tulalip, and $40 million for the 39th district that includes Arlington.

Here are the local projects:

• 530,000 for the Arlington Boys and Girls Club on 59th Avenue NE for off-street parking safety improvements and to pave and stripe dirt parking lots used by the club and Stilly Valley Little League, Snohomish County director Bill Tsoukalas said. The city has already been awarded Complete Streets funding for related sidewalks, curbs and on-street parking within the same corridor.

• $425,000 to the Tulalip Tribes for a 4,000-square-foot multi-media teen center at the Tulalip Boys & Girls Club with a central learning lab, digital recording studio, classroom and office space.

• $305,000 to upgrade turf and lighting at Cedar Field in Marysville, giving little leaguers and other recreational users time to play longer.

• $300,000 to support the Highway 530 “Oso” Slide Memorial project.

The capital budget funds construction and infrastructure projects such as schools, public buildings, parks, low-income housing, water infrastructure and habitat.

Overall, the state spending plan makes key investments in mental and behavioral health facilities, K-12 school construction, higher education facilities, low-income housing, fish and wildlife preservation, local community projects, and more.
