Library honors dedicated volunteers

How do you show volunteers that give freely of their time and energy how much you value their commitment?

National Volunteer Week was April 15-21 and the Marysville Library honored its dedicated volunteers by holding a celebration on April 20.
The theme was Volunteers Are a Treasure and invitations were sent out inviting volunteers and a guest to the recognition event. Along with each volunteer receiving a certificate, 13 volunteers with more than a years service received special volunteer name badges.
It was a joint effort, with the library organizing the event and the community stepping up to take part in supporting the committed library volunteers. City Council member John Soriano presented the certificates of appreciation to each volunteer and was a guest speaker along with Sno-Isle Library Director Jonalyn Woolf-Ivory.
Local community merchants also had a hand in supporting the library volunteers. Marysville Costco and Marysville Fred Meyer gave cash donations and Allen Creek Thriftway donated the punch and a cake using the treasure chest theme. Volunteers and guests had a chance to socialize and meet each other and Sno-Isle staff after the presentation.
