MARYSVILLE — Firefighters in Marysville and Arlington are offering citizens incentives to check their home smoke alarms on “Smoke Alarm Saturday.”
On March 12, the Marysville Fire District, the Arlington Fire Department and Snohomish County Fire District 19 in Silvana will be handing out information encouraging citizens to change their smoke alarm batteries, or check them in the case of 10-year lifetime batteries, as they change their clocks to daylight-saving time on March 13.
Marysville and Arlington firefighters will go one step further during the first three days of daylight-saving time, by helping Domino’s Pizza stores in Marysville and Smokey Point deliver their orders in the Marysville, Arlington, Smokey Point and Lakewood areas March 13-15. Firefighters will visit at least one Domino’s customer per day in their fire engines, between the hours of 4-8 p.m., and at each house they visit, firefighters will test the smoke alarms to see if the batteries have been changed, as well as to ensure the alarms are working. If all of the smoke alarms work, Domino’s Pizza will provide a gift certificate for the house’s next order, up to $20 in value.

Marysville firefighters will also be installing smoke alarms, replacing batteries and providing safety information at Pilchuck I and II, and Lakeside Mobile Park, on March 12. Firefighters and community development staff will be available at the Emerald Hills Estates as well.
