MARYSVILLE — Although the Marysville Public Works Building at 80 Columbia Ave. is still closed to walk-in visitors until further notice, citizens can now conduct their business with the city’s Community Development office at 601 Delta Ave. from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, excluding holidays.
City of Marysville Chief Administrative Officer and Community Development Director Gloria Hirashima explained that the June 9 flooding of the Public Works Building necessitated the move of the Community Development office, which is not intended to be permanent.
“We’d like to get back to the Public Works Building eventually, but we’ve been running the same functions very smoothly out of our new location,” Hirashima said. “We’re waiting for repair estimates, but we’re hoping we’ll be able to return in a couple of months or so.”
Community Development seeks to promote economic growth and healthy neighborhoods, while protecting the natural environment, through permitting and licensing ranging from buildings to businesses. Fortunately, its website at http://ci.marysville.wa.us/CommunityDev/planning/index.html has been able to accommodate much of its customer traffic, by providing information and online application forms.
