MARYSVILLE — Months after the June 9 flooding of the Marysville Public Works Building necessitated the temporary relocation of the city’s Community Development office to 601 Delta Ave., the Community Development office is finally back in the Public Works Building at 80 Columbia Ave.

Even during the time that the Public Works Building was still closed to walk-in visitors, citizens were able to conduct their business with the Community Development office during its regular business hours, and now that the office has returned to its old location, citizens can still stop by from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, excluding holidays.

Although the Community Development office’s move was never intended to be permanent, City of Marysville Chief Administrative Officer and Community Development Director Gloria Hirashima expressed pride in the office’s ability to run the same functions so smoothly out of its temporary location.

“Our goal was to make it a really seamless transition, both when we moved there and when we moved back,” Hirashima said. “Hopefully the public didn’t notice the transition too much, since we tried to reduce the inconvenience for them as much as possible.”

Community Development seeks to promote economic growth and healthy neighborhoods, while protecting the natural environment, through permitting and licensing ranging from buildings to businesses. Fortunately, its website has been able to accommodate much of its customer traffic, by providing information and online application forms.
