MARYSVILLE – The Marysville Fire District was dispatched to a commercial structure fire in the 9500 block of State Avenue at approximately 8:12 p.m. on Nov. 22. Firefighters arrived at 8:20 p.m. and located a fire in the Quil Ceda Pharmacy building.
Original reports stated, “that there was smoke from the roof” the first arriving engine reported smoke from the roof and forced entry into the building. Firefighters initially found the fire in the basement and heavy smoke on the first floor. The fire was under control within 40 minutes. Firefighters were hampered by 24 degree temperatures as well as inclement weather and road conditions that required the incident commander to request a second alarm assignment for additional fire resources to assist Marysville Fire crews.
The loss is approximately $1 million.
At the height of the incident more than 55 firefighters battled the blaze with mutual aid provided by Lake Stevens, Getchell, Tulalip Bay, Sylvana, Arlington, and Everett Fire Departments.
The fire is being investigated by Marysville Fire District Fire Marshal’s Office and with the assistance of Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office.
