MARYSVILLE — At 11:44 a.m. on Thursday, May 10, the Marysville Fire District was dispatched to a residential fire in the 13700 block of 57th Avenue NE.
Firefighters arrived at 11:46 a.m. and located a fire in a camping trailer that was occupied.
The lone occupant was awakened by the smoke and fled the trailer. There were no injuries.
This fire’s dollar loss is estimated at $15,000, and the cause of the fire is being investigated by Marysville Fire District and the Marysville Police Department.
While units we arriving at the first fire, another residential structure fire was reported at 12:01 p.m. that same day, in the 6800 block of 49th Place NE.
Firefighters arrived at 12:10 p.m. and located a fire in a two-story residential structure.
Original reports stated, “The house was on fire.” The first arriving captain reported a two-story residential structure with fire visible and through the roof.
Firefighters fought the fire offensively and defensively. The fire was confined to the structure and brought under control within 40 minutes.
The structure was occupied at the time of the fire. No firefighter injuries were reported.
This fire’s dollar loss has been estimated at $335,000.
At the height of the incident, more than 28 firefighters battled the blaze, with mutual aid provided by Getchell’s Snohomish County Fire District 22, as well as Lake Stevens, Everett, Arlington and Silvana’s Snohomish County Fire District 19.
The fire was investigated by the Marysville Fire District and remains under investigation.
Because the family occupying the structure was unable to contact their insurance company, the Snohomish County Chapter of American Red Cross put the family up in a motel, issued them a credit card for replacement of medicines, food and clothing, and gave them comfort kits containing toothbrushes and personal care items, as well as information on securing their house and cleaning up after the fire.
