On the afternoon of Tuesday, Jan. 15, Marysville police officers responded to the assault of an individual who had reported that another vehicle had bumped his car. Officers also recognized the second vehicle as one that had been described by victims as being involved in a serious assault that occurred on the evening of Saturday, Jan. 12, during which three middle school-aged boys were attacked by a large group of individuals. One juvenile was placed under arrest for that Saturday night assault.

At noon on Thursday, July 11, the Marysville Police Department released security tape photos of a suspect in the July 10 Kmart shooting threat incident and officials are hoping that someone may recognize the man or that he may turn himself in to authorities. The man allegedly threatened to shoot everyone in the State Avenue Kmart store after getting upset when he overhead employees discussing a routine security check, believing that it was aimed at him, officials said.

Four Marysville schools went into temporary lockdown in the wake of a bank robbery on Thursday, Nov. 7. Shortly after 10 a.m., an adult male suspect entered the branch of HomeStreet Bank in the 1200 block of State Avenue demanding money, and implied he had a weapon, but none was seen by bank employees. The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of money. A Lynnwood Police K9 was used in an attempt to track the suspect, but was unsuccessful.

The Gold’s Gym locations at Arlington and Marysville had their workouts interrupted on Feb. 19 when crews of movers arrived, with Snohomish County Sheriff’s deputies in tow, to remove the facilities’ equipment per a writ of execution. “It was a civil action, in which legal action was taken by another agency,” said Shari Ireton, director of communications for the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office. “We’re not aware of who that other agency was. We were asked to be there to provide security.”

Four members of a gun trafficking conspiracy based in Snohomish County are under arrest after being indicted by the grand jury for illegally selling more than 50 firearms to an undercover investigator, announced U.S. Attorney Jenny A. Durkan. Heather Chancey, also known as Heather Lee Slater, 34, of Marysville, is charged in 14 counts of a 20 count indictment for gun and drug crimes. Mark Jenkins, 53, of Marysville, is charged in four counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm, and James Michaels, 37, of Marysville and Curtis Van Putten, 43, of Marysville are each charged in one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
