MARYSVILLE — For computer users with visual impairment, computer monitors can pose a real challenge. The Marysville Library now offers a solution: a laptop PC with ZoomText Magnifier software for the visually impaired.
The ZoomText program works with all Windows applications and allows users to change screen options to aid their visual comprehension. Options include enlarging text anywhere from one to 36 times the original size, choosing different fonts, using a zoom window, and enhancing colors. It comes with an advanced document reader that highlights each word in the document to facilitate reading.
Sno-Isle Libraries cardholders may borrow the laptop to use in the library. The loan period is limited to the hours the library is open and must be returned 30 minutes prior to the library closing time. Contact a Marysville Library librarian to use this special laptop.
Providing the laptop for the visually impaired is part of the Sno-Isle Libraries strategic plan to give customers an enhanced quality of life through a variety of library resources, which includes access to user-friendly and innovative electronic content and devices.
The Marysville Library is located at 6120 Grove St. in Marysville, Wash. For directions and hours, visit www.sno-isle.org/?ID=1201.
