MARYSVILLE — Marysville residents are invited to meet with Mayor Jon Nehring for coffee and conversation at the Marysville/North County YMCA from 9:30-11 a.m. on Sept. 29.
Those who have issues to discuss or who just want to meet the new mayor are welcome to join him for his first “coffee klatch” since taking office in August. Coffee and light refreshments will be provided.
Nehring hopes to continue the coffee klatch tradition started by his predecessor, Dennis Kendall. He will be open to any and all topics, and expects to address information about the 2011 city budget.
Nehring advocates open public communications by responding to phone calls and e-mails from constituents, as well as conducting one-on-one scheduled visits. Citizens can also have their comments heard during the audience participation segments of regular City Council meetings. In that setting, residents can go to the podium, speak into a microphone and voice their concerns to the mayor and Council. By comparison, the occasional coffee klatches are meant to be more informal and hopefully less intimidating for some people, according to Nehring.
The Sept. 29 coffee klatch will take place at 6420 60th Dr. NE. Please RSVP with City Executive Assistant Lynn Schroeder by phone at 360-363-8091 or via e-mail at lschroeder@marysvillewa.gov.
“Thank you to the Marysville YMCA for hosting this event, and for the great partnership they continue to share with the city in making Marysville a more fit and healthy community,” Nehring said.
