MARYSVILLE — Starting April 1, the city of Marysville will offer free screened fill dirt and topsoil mix for residents to use in gardens and lawns, or for round-the-yard projects.

Under the free program that started last year, the city has stockpiled reclaimed native soil, compiled and used for in-house construction projects around Marysville, and has more than necessary to fill the city’s project needs, according to Paul Kinney of the sewer/storm water division of the city Public Works. City officials want to share the excess soil with the public.

To pick up your own material, visit the Kellogg Marsh Reservoir site, at the corner of 100th Street NE and 67th Avenue. Gates are open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Visitors must complete and sign a hold harmless agreement, and the fill dirt is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
