MARYSVILLE — Students at Marysville-Pilchuck High School were placed under lock down for about an hour Thursday as members of the Marysville Police Department investigated a possible assault in the area.

“Police officials informed school personnel at about 11:45 a.m. today that there was police activity in the area north of the Marysville-Pilchuck campus and advised the campus to go into lock down,” according to district officials. “As of 12:45 p.m., police had given the go ahead for students to move around campus and transition to their next class.”

According to district officials classroom doors and windows remained locked and school and district personnel patrolled the campus to ensure that all students were safely in classrooms.

School officials were informed at about 12:55 p.m. that police officials had lifted the lock down. Normal school activity will resume and students will be dismissed at the regular time.

According to Cmdr. Ralph Krusey of the Marysville Police Department, the incident began at approximately 10 a.m. when a 31-year-old female became involved in a verbal domestic dispute with her 38-year-old boyfriend at their residence in the 5300 block of 116th Street NE. The female walked from the residence to a market at the 100 block of 100th Street and 51st Avenue. The male followed the victim to the 7-11 in his vehicle, a late model Buick.

Police report the suspect brandished a semi-automatic rifle and threatened to kill the victim and her family. The suspect then fled and returned to the couple’s residence.

Marysville police located the suspect’s vehicle at the residence and secured the location. At approximately 12:50 p.m. the suspected walked out of the residence. Marysville police made contact with the suspect and he was taken into custody without further incident.

The suspect will be booked at Snohonmish County Jail for assault first degree DV.
