MARYSVILLE — Marysville Police responded at about 2 a.m., on March 2, to a disturbance call in the parking lot of a bar located in the 10000 block of Shoultes Rd., in Marysville. Officers learned the disturbance occurred following a minor vehicle collision.

A 25-year-old Tulalip woman backed into another vehicle while pulling out of a parking stall. The victim, a 43-year-old Tulalip man who witnessed the collision, told the woman she needed to pull back into the stall in order to exchange driver and vehicle information with the owner of the struck vehicle. The woman did pull back into a stall but then traded seating positions with a male subject who had been sitting in the front passenger seat because she did not have a license to drive. This angered the victim who started an argument with the male subject who was now sitting in the driver’s seat.

The suspect, a 23-year-old Renton man exited his vehicle and shouted at the witness to back off and leave him alone and that he had a gun. He then pulled out the gun and pointed it at the victim. The victim admitted to police he yelled at the suspect to go ahead and shoot him in the head. The suspect then pointed the gun into the air and fired off a round. He and the woman then left the scene quickly in their car.

Witnesses were able to provide license plate information on the suspect vehicle.

A Tulalip Police Department officer eventually located the vehicle on the Tulalip Reservation and both Marysville and Tulalip officers were able to take the suspect into custody and recover the gun.

The suspect admitted to displaying his gun and firing a round in the air but stated that it was a case of self-defense because the victim was assaulting him and acting crazy and he was trying to get him to get away from him. The suspect was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for Assault 2. The case will be forwarded to the Snohomish County Prosecutor’s Office for review to determine if charges will be filed.
