MARYSVILLE — The Marysville Police Department will be holding a public notification meeting to release information regarding a pair of Level III sex offenders residing within the city limits of Marysville.
Robert Michael Boersma and James Robert Jurss have registered as sex offenders with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, and will be residing in the 4900 block of 61st Street NE in Marysville. Boersma is a 22-year-old white male who stands approximately 6 feet tall, weighs 175 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes. Jurss is a 25-year-old white male who stands approximately 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighs 170 pounds, and has black hair and blue eyes.
The public meeting will take place on Thursday, Dec. 8, starting at 7 p.m., on the second floor of the Marysville Public Safety Building, located at 1635 Grove St., in the Police Training Room.
According to official documents, Boersma pled guilty in Snohomish County Superior Court on June 21 of this year to the crimes of child molestation in the second degree and communication with a minor for immoral purposes. At the time of the crime, Boersma had been homeless and was allowed to stay in a home. Over a period of six months, Boersma, who was 20 years old at the time, molested a 12-year-old girl who also lived in the home. In early 2009, Boersma sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl he’d met two weeks earlier. This crime took place at a party. Boersma also admitted to having sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old girl when he was 20 years old.
According to official documents, Jurss pled guilty to communication with a minor for immoral purposes on July 08, 2009, and was sentenced to 26 months of incarceration. Jurss began having sexual contact with a 14-year-old female victim he’d met two weeks prior. The girl’s schoolmates told a school counselor, which led to his arrest.
Jurss’ prior sex crimes include a conviction in 2000 in McHenry County, Illinois. He was 14 years old at the time and sexually assaulted two boys, aged 4 and 6, whom he was babysitting. During the investigation, Jurss admitted to having assaulted two other victims, boys aged 6 and 7, but those crimes were never adjudicated.
Boersma was unable to complete the sex offender treatment program in while incarcerated due to lack of time. Jurss had attended sex offender treatment when he was a juvenile. Boersma and Jurss will be on active supervision with the Marysville office of the Department of Corrections for a period of 36 months.
This notification is not intended to increase fear. Rather, it is the belief that an informed public is a safer public. Level III sex offenders are those offenders whose risk assessments indicate a High risk of re-offense within the community at large.
