MARYSVILLE — Just after 2 a.m. Tuesday morning Marysville Police responded to a reported assault with a weapon complaint in the 3200 block of Sunnyside Blvd., in Marysville. Officers were advised one subject had been shot in the abdomen.

After arriving on scene officers learned a male, 47, and two females, 26 and 19, were at the residence when suspects knocked on the front door and then started to kick their way inside. The male victim had a handgun and went to the front door as entry was being made by the suspects. An exchange of gunfire between the male victim and the suspects took place in the front entryway of the residence during which the victim was struck in the abdomen. One of the females called 911 to report the shooting.

Officers deployed a police K9 but were unable to maintain a track and no suspects were located.

The shooting victim was transported by ambulance to Providence General Medical Center in Everett. His current condition is unknown although he is expected to survive.

During the subsequent investigation detectives learned from the victim there were up to three suspects involved.

Detectives also have developed information during the investigation that leads them to believe the residence was specifically targeted for the robbery.

“We are very comfortable stating this was not a random home invasion robbery and there is no additional concern of threat to our law-abiding community members,” stated Commander Robb Lamoureux.

The investigation is on-going.
