MARYSVILLE – Just after 2 a.m., Dec. 19, a 26-year-old Arlington man was struck and killed while walking in the 10400 block of Smokey Point Blvd., in Marysville.
Marysville Police responded to a report of a man down in the roadway. Officers arrived on-scene, where citizens were administering CPR to the victim. Marysville Fire District Medics later pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
At the same time a Washington State Patrol Trooper, had made a traffic stop on a vehicle that was speeding in the area. At the time the Trooper was not aware an accident had occurred. When the Trooper made contact with the driver, the driver asked the Trooper, “what did I hit?”
The Trooper contacted Marysville Police and advised he may be out with a subject involved in a hit and run accident. Officers were able to connect the driver and his vehicle to the deceased pedestrian.
Detectives processed the driver for DUI and learned he had a blood alcohol content of .177, more than twice the legal limit.
The suspect, a 34-year-old Marysville man was arrested and booked at the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of Vehicular Homicide.
