MARYSVILLE — With flood warnings issued around Puget Sound rivers and the effects of overnight heavy rainfall, Marysville Public Works crews are responding to reports of water on some local roadways:

• 136th Street NE is closed at State Avenue east to the railroad tracks and the Navy PX/Commissary Support Complex.

• Northbound lane traffic on 67th Avenue, a.k.a. Armar Road, near 84th Street west of Cedarcrest Golf Course is being redirected to the center lane due to standing water on the road.

• Snohomish County Public Works is monitoring moving water from a stream north of 152nd Street NE at 67th Avenue.

• Due to excessive flooding of Allen Creek, the Lions Pavilion in Jennings Memorial Park is closed until further notice.

“Do not drive cars, vans or trucks through flooded areas,” said Doug Buell, public information officer for the city of Marysville.

Buell noted that citizens who are concerned about flooding around their homes or property can obtain free “you fill” sand and bags at the Marysville Public Works Department, located at 80 Columbia Ave., during its regular business hours of 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For more information, call Public Works at 360-363-8100.

He added that the city of Marysville website includes an “Alert Center,” at http://marysvillewa.gov/AlertCenter.aspx, which allows people to sign up for emergency alerts to be sent automatically to their email or iPhone, or both, with Android coming soon, just by providing their email address and choosing the types of updates they want.

“The flooding, while minimal, has given us the opportunity to put our new website features through a trial,” Buell said.
