MARYSVILLE – The Marysville School District Board of Directors has selected three candidates as finalists for Superintendent: Dr. Becky Berg (Deer Park, Wash.), Dr. Carl Bruner (Mount Vernon, Wash.), and Dr. Tony Byrd (Edmonds, Wash).
A team of observers representing all stakeholder groups were in attendance while the board interviewed five semifinalists throughout the day. The interviews were open to the public and about a dozen staff and community members also attended. Observers provided written comments and scored candidates based on the list of search criteria (that was developed through stakeholder input early in the search process) in which the candidate chosen will develop success in the following areas: Student Achievement, Leadership, Community Partnerships/Relationships, Budget, Diversity/Multicultural, Roots and Wings, Commitment to Marysville. Public visitors were also given an opportunity to provide written feedback to the board.
Superintendent finalist’s candidate visits and interviews will occur on March 25, 26, and 27:
Monday, March 25 – Dr. Tony Byrd
Tuesday, March 26 – Dr. Carl Bruner
Wednesday, March 27 – Dr. Becky Berg
Each finalist will spend a day of visitation in the district. Opportunities for staff, parents, students, and community members to meet the candidates in open forums are scheduled each of the three days:
11 a.m.
4:15 p.m.
6:30 p.m.
The forums will be held at the Marysville School District Service Center Board Room, located at 4220 80th Street NE, Marysville, 98270. The schedule for the candidate visitations is posted on the district website.
