TULALIP — On July 15, representatives of the Tulalip Tribes informed The Marysville Globe via e-mail that John McCoy has resigned from his position as general manager of Quil Ceda Village effective Aug. 1.

McCoy also serves as a state representative for the 38th legislative district. According to Tulalip Tribal Public Affairs Coordinator Mytyl Hernandez, McCoy is stepping down as manager of Quil Ceda Village to start a public policy and economic development consulting firm.

McCoy directed the Quil Ceda Village project in helping to create more than 1,200 local jobs, and in 2005 was honored for his efforts by being named the Puget Sound Business Journal’s “Executive of the Year.”

“John has spent the last 16 years helping us advance technologically and legislatively,” Hernandez said. “We wish him the best of luck.”

Tulalip Tribal Chair Mel Sheldon Jr. agreed, adding, “John has made such an enormous and positive impact on Tulalip, we know that he will be very successful in anything he chooses to do.”

McCoy was unavailable for comment as of press time due to traveling out of country, but has agreed to an interview with The Marysville Globe at a later date.
