MARYSVILLE — The officer and suspect who were both shot in an exchange of gunfire in Marysville Oct. 15 have been identified.
The Marysville Police Department officer is Sgt. James Maples. He was treated and released.
The suspect in the shooting spree that went from Granite Falls to Lake Stevens to Marysville is Hans Hansen, 43, of Granite Falls. He is expected to survive and be charged.
Hansen’s white Ford pickup was towed to the police impound lot Oct. 16. Three bullet holes through the windshield could be seen from the street. One decal on the truck said, “Go Hawks.” Another said “Meet My Family” and featured drawings of firearms.
Police are not saying what they think the motive was for Hansen’s shooting spree.
With multiple crime scenes and the number of shots fired, the investigation could take weeks, sheriff’s spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.
