MARYSVILLE — At noon on Thursday, July 11, the Marysville Police Department released security tape photos of a suspect in the July 10 Kmart shooting threat incident and officials are hoping that someone may recognize the man or that he may turn himself in to authorities.

The man allegedly threatened to shoot everyone in the State Avenue Kmart store after getting upset when he overhead employees discussing a routine security check, believing that it was aimed at him, officials said.

Employees called 911 and began to usher customers from the building at approximately 6 p.m. Marysville police officers arrived within one minute of the call and began to search the building for the suspect.

Marysville Police Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux said it is likely that the suspect had fled prior to police arrival.

“Store employees were reviewing security tape and somebody who had seen or had contact with the suspect did observe the suspect leaving the store on that footage,” said Lamoureux. “We arrived on scene within one minute and we believe he was already gone.”

It is still unclear whether the man left alone and if he fled on foot or in a vehicle. Authorities are hoping that the photos from the store’s surveillance cameras will help identify him.
