MARYSVILLE – Sheriff’s deputies and local police are searching for five women and two men who are suspected of stealing $195,000 in jewelry plus cash from a Marysville pawn shop.
The owner of American Loan and Pawn, Jerry Metz, said Wednesday that on March 30 the group came into the store and started raising a ruckus.
Store staff said the group distracted them by asking a lot of questions, waving $100 bills around and just overall being “pushy.”
There were three employees and four other customers in the store at the time.
A store video caught it all on tape.
While everyone was distracted, one of the women reportedly snuck into the back to an office, where the jewelry and money was located.
Staff said the five women and a different man had been in the store just two days earlier.
Ironically, the pawn shop has been at its location on 2nd Street for decades, but plans to move to State Avenue soon into the old Damascus Church building.
Metz, who has owned the business since 2008, said he’s never had a loss this big due to thieves.
Snohomish County North County Property Crime detectives are working the case.
