Police seek public’s help after morning drive-by gunfire strikes Marysville home

MARYSVILLE – Marysville Police at 4:36 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 7, responded to a complaint of shots fired in the 9500 block of 53rd Avenue NE.

Neighbors reported hearing several “pop,pop,pops,’ then called 911, said Sgt. Deryck McLeod. Officers responded to the otherwise quiet neighborhood and located a house that had been struck by several rounds fired from an unknown weapon.

The bullets passed through a window as well as into a bedroom where a child was asleep, McLeod says. No injuries were reported.

McLeod said it is unknown why the house was struck, but police do not believe the homeowners were involved in any illegal activity.

The investigation is continuing, and Marysville detectives are asking for the public’s help to report anything suspicious that they may have seen or heard in the early morning hours. If you have information to share, contact the Marysville Police Detectives Division at 360-363-8326.
