Preliminary results come in for Aug. 17 primary election

Initial results from the Aug. 17 primary election have been released by Snohomish County Elections.

MARYSVILLE – Preliminary results from the Aug. 17 primary election have been released.

In the race for U.S. Senate, incumbent Patty Murray has garnered 433,211 votes (46.04 percent) to Dino Rossi’s 319,708 votes (33.98 percent).

In the race for U.S. Representative District 2, incumbent Rick Larsen has received 48,762 votes (42.85 percent) while challenger John Koster garnered 46,560 votes (40.91 percent).

In the race for 10th Legislative District Representative Position 1, incumbent Norma Smith is running unopposed and has garnered 19,382 votes (100 percent). For the 10th District Representative Position 2, incumbent Barbara Bailey has garnered 16,165 votes (61.12 percent) while challenger Tom Riggs earned 10,281 votes (38.88 percent).

In the 38th District Senator race, challenger Nick Harper has garnered 4,530 votes (35.34 percent) while incumbent Jean Berkey received 4,305 votes (33.58 percent). In the race for 38th District Representative Position 1, incumbent John McCoy received 7,127 votes (55.33 percent) while challenger Hugh Fleet garnered 5,753 votes (44.67 percent). In the 38th District Representative Position 2 race, incumbent Mike Sells got 7,343 votes (57.57 percent) while challenger Iris Lilly garnered 5,413 votes (42.43 percent).

In the 39th District Representative Position 1 race, incumbent Dan Kristiansen garnered 10,991 votes (61.30 percent) while challenger Eleanor Walters received 6,940 votes (38.70 percent). In the Representative Position 2 race for the 39th District, incumbent Kirk Pearson is running unopposed and garnered 13,770 votes (100 percent).

In the 44th District, Steve Hobbs leads the race for Senator with 6,379 votes (37.24 percent) followed by Dave Schmidt with 6,076 votes (35.47 percent). For Representative Position 1 incumbent Hans Dunshee leads with 8,639 (50.54 percent), followed by Bob McCaughan with 5,693 (33.31 percent). For Representative Position 2, incumbent Mike Hope garnered 10,648 votes (62.86 percent) while challenger John Boerger received 6,290 votes (37.14 percent).

The Marysville School District Proposition 1 garnered 4,422 No votes (60.06 percent) and 2,941 Yes votes (39.94 percent).

The North County Regional Fire District EMS levy garnered 2,183 Yes votes (72.82 percent) and 815 No votes (27.18 percent).
