MARYSVILLE For many, the arrival of spring is marked by blooming flowers or the beginning of baseball season. For the volunteers at Purrfect Pals, spring brings an influx of kittens and adults cats in need of loving families and homes.
To help find these animals a home, Purrfect Pals will be hosting a Kitten Baby Shower and Adoption event April 14, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Jones and Company Pets at 1340 State Ave. in Marysville.
Since its founding in 1988, Purrfect Pals, a no-kill cats-only adoption organization and sanctuary, has adopted out nearly 19,000 cats and is hoping to find homes for 2,500 more in 2007.
The April 14 event will feature cats of all ages, from kitten to adult, all of which have been spayed or neutered, micro-chipped, viral tested and have all shots appropriate for their current age.
We have, literally, hundreds of kittens looking for a good home, said Stacey King, a volunteer at Purrfect Pals. It seems like the influx of kittens and cats hasnt stopped all winter.
King said that the minimum adoption donation is $100 but pointed out that is less than what Purrfect Pals has already spent on health care such as spay or neutering and shots for each cat. In addition, because all of the animals up for adoption have been spayed or neutered, they are eligible for a free, lifetime license from the city of Marysville,
King said that families are encouraged to stop by the event had enjoy cake and punch and to help fill the play pen with donations of canned and dry kitten food, toys, small blankets and beds and scratching posts. Purrfect Pals Foster Care Coordinator and foster families will be there to provide information on the need of people to foster mother cats and their litters of kittens and orphaned kittens until they are old enough for adoption.
