MARYSVILLE — The Quil Ceda and Tulalip elementary schools were recently named runners-up for the prestigious Shirley Hord Award, were featured in the Learning Forward’s national staff development magazine, and will be recognized at their National Conference in July.

Fourteen teams from schools across the United States submitted nominations to Learning Forward, formerly the National Staff Development Council, and each school submitted a video and documentation as evidence of their collaborative professional learning work.

A team of 14 reviewers — which included Learning Forward Scholar Laureate Shirley Hord herself, as well as other Learning Forward members — reviewed the submissions using Learning Forward’s Learning School Innovation Configuration Map. Three awards were given out, one to the winner and two to the runners-up.

“I would like to congratulate our members and leaders in our Marysville schools,” said Ellen Holmes, National Board certified teacher and senior policy analyst for the National Education Association Priority Schools. “The NEA is extremely proud of your work and commitment to each of your students.”
