MARYSVILLE — Three residents were displaced by flames that struck a duplex at 7407 67th Ave. NE early the morning of Sept. 9.

About 7:15 a.m., firefighters first responded to reports of “lots of smoke” in the area of 67th and Grove Street, according to Marysville Fire District Public Information Officer Stephanie Price.

Crews soon reported smoke coming from the backside of the two-unit residence on 67th. The fire captain at the scene also noted flames had penetrated the attic space of the home.

Price said crews completed a primary search of the structure and found that occupants had made it out safely. The fire was reported extinguished at 7:41 a.m.

According to Price, a passerby was the first to call 911 in response to the fire. Further, two male residents of one side of the duplex told Price “a Good Samaritan” banged on their door and alerted them to the fire.

No one was home in the other side of the structure.

Price did not report any injuries. The Snohomish County Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire, though Price said the blaze may have started in a row of trees next to the back of the duplex and spread to the building. Structure and content lost was estimated at $50,000. It isn’t clear when residents will be able to return to the home.

Besides the Marysville Fire District, emergency crews from Getchell and Lake Stevens also responded to the incident.
