Road improvement projects in the Marysville and Tulalip areas posing potential impacts to the traffic of local motorists during the next several months:
• A single lane closure will be in effect at the intersection of Marine Drive and 64th Street NW through Oct. 30, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day. Traffic signals are being installed in conjunction with the improvement project for that Tulalip intersection.
• A full road closure will be in effect on 34th Avenue NE, between 116th Street NE and the roundabout at Quil Ceda Boulevard, through Nov. 25. The Tulalip Tribes are replacing a fish culvert, and a detour route has been posted, with instructions for park and ride participants at that location.
• Improvements are also being performed at the intersections of 51st Avenue NE with 100th Street NE and 136th Street NE. Construction on these projects began this summer and is expected to continue for several months each.
The 100th Street NE intersection is on the west side of Cascade Elementary School, while the 136th Street NE intersection is on the west side of Shoultes Elementary School. The 100th Street NE project will realign the existing offset, add left-turn pockets to all four legs at the intersection and add a new traffic signal. Construction on the south side of 136th Street NE includes plans for a left-turn pocket lane for the northbound lane of 51st Avenue NE. A new traffic signal will also be added to the 136th Street NE intersection.
These improvements are being performed in part because the 51st Avenue NE corridor serves as an important north-south travel alternative to State Avenue.
