School supplies collected for students in need Aug. 3

MARYSVILLE — Students in need will receive aid from two different collection drives for school supplies on Saturday, Aug. 3.

MARYSVILLE — Students in need will receive aid from two different collection drives for school supplies on Saturday, Aug. 3.

The Tulalip Walmart at 8924 34th Ave. NE will be hosting a back-to-school supplies drive to benefit the Marysville, Everett and Mukilteo school districts from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., courtesy of the South Snohomish County Toys for Tots. Uniformed military members and other volunteers will be accepting donations inside the store. For more information, call Mary Butler at 425-344-0359.

The parking lot of the Marysville Kmart at 9623 State Ave. will serve as the site for a “Fill the School Bus” event that same Saturday, to raise awareness for the red collection barrels that Marysville Community Food Bank volunteers have placed throughout town to serve as donation points for school supplies, from now through the following Saturday, Aug. 10. The barrels are located at the Marysville Kmart, the Grocery Outlet, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Marysville Community Food Bank, HomeStreet Bank, the Ken Baxter Community Center, the city of Marysville’s Parks and Recreation office at Jennings Park, the Marysville Free Methodist Church on Fourth Street and Trusty Threads on Third Street. A list of needed school supplies and more information is posted on the Marysville School District’s website at www.msvl.k12.wa.us.
