MARYSVILLE – Marysville’s Strawberry Fields for Rover Off-Leash Park has plenty of features to indulge dog lovers and their pets, but shade isn’t one of them.
That could change soon.
Roy Robinson Subaru partnered with park stewards Marysville Dog Owners Group to raise funds for a covered shelter at the city-owned park. During April, the dealership donated $15 to M-DOG for every new Subaru sold, raising a total of $2,190.
M-DOG president Doug Buell said he was thrilled and grateful with Subaru’s contribution. It will be enough, working with Marysville Parks, Culture and Recreation, to bring shade to a park that tends to get hot in the summer with few places to take cover.
“Roy Robinson Subaru has been a big dog-loving supporter of the park, they’ve donated a park bench, and they were a key sponsor and vendor at Marysville Poochapalooza during the dog festival’s 12-year run,” Buell said.
General Sales Manager Robb McCalmon said they have been happy to help.
“We have enjoyed our partnership with M-DOG and Strawberry Fields for Rover for over a decade now, and we appreciate the time and effort Doug and Leslie and their group devote to M-DOG and our local dog community.”
As part of the donation drive, M-DOG set up a display in the Subaru showroom. It provided a history of the city’s three-acre dog park, improvements added including a small dog area and agility course, and membership information to join the group that conducts monthly work parties to keep the dog park clean.
