SMOKEY POINT — Arlington Police are investigating a robbery and a theft that both occurred on June 28.
At approximately 1 a.m., Arlington Police were dispatched to the Domino’s Pizza at 3131 Smokey Point Dr. for a reported robbery. A female employee told police that she was closing the store alone when a male suspect walked in and demanded money. There was no weapon seen or implied, but the employee complied and gave the suspect what money was available. The suspect then fled on foot in an unknown direction. Police arrived on scene within three minutes, but were unable to locate the suspect, despite a police K-9 track. The male suspect was described as Caucasian, standing approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds and wearing a dark-colored jacket and ski mask.
At approximately 4:15 a.m., Arlington Police responded to a report of a robbery that occurred at the Denny’s at 22025 Highway 530. Police were on scene within four minutes but were unable to locate the suspect despite a thorough search of the surrounding area. It was reported that a male suspect came into the restaurant and walked directly up to a cash register where he quickly opened the till and removed its contents before fleeing on foot. There was no weapon seen or implied. The incident was reclassified as a theft and not a robbery. The suspect was described as a light-skinned man, standing approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds and wearing a dark jacket with a red bandana covering his face. The suspect fled east through the parking lot, past some neighboring businesses, where police believe he had a getaway vehicle waiting.
It is too early to determine if these events are related, despite the similarity of the suspect descriptions.
