ARLINGTON — A benefit raffle for a 4-month-old battling cancer is slated to take place on Saturday, April 24.
The raffle will take place at Smokey Point Community Church (17721 Smokey Point Blvd.) from noon to 2 p.m.
Items from a number of local businesses will be raffled off during the event.
Aiden Branson Alvarado was born nearly two months early with a rare type of cancer called infantile fibrosarcoma. Intial chemotherapy was unsuccessful, and Aiden is currently undergoing six weeks of intensive chemotherapy.
Side effects from the treatment could be life-threatening, according to event organizers.
Aiden’s parents — mother Kalicia, who works Smokey Point Daycare and Kindergarten and father Brandon is a currently unemployed carpenter — have been “living” at the Ronald McDonald House and overseeing his treatments.
The benefit raffle is for Aiden’s family will hopefully provide financial support for them during their time of need, said volunteer Kathy Carman.
One hundred percent of the proceeds will go toward helping the family.
