MARYSVILLE — The city of Marysville recently received a clean audit opinion, containing no findings from the Washington State Auditor’s Office for 2013, marking seven consecutive years of reports with no findings.

“The positive results contained in the state auditor’s independent inspection of our city finances reaffirm our commitment to accountability in how we administer taxpayer dollars in compliance with the law,” Marysville Mayor Jon Nehring said. “The results highlight the importance we place on accurately reporting fiscal information to the financial community and appropriate regulatory agencies.”

Nehring lauded Finance Director Sandy Langdon and her staff, along with other department personnel for their time, research and the cooperation they provided to on-site state auditors.

Langdon said the city takes seriously its commitment to the public to manage and log records accurately and efficiently, and maintain a framework of internal controls to address managerial and operational effectiveness and efficiency.

The State Auditor’s Office conducts annual audits of financial statements and evaluates internal controls across cities and counties statewide, and assesses how well they adhere to state and local regulations, as well as their own management procedures.
