MARYSVILLE — The city of Marysville is encouraging area residents who have noticed an overwhelming smell of wood, “or any other foul odor that burns your nose or stings your eyes,” to call the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency to report it.

City of Marysville Community Information Officer Doug Buell reported that the Marysville City Hall had fielded “a handful of calls, maybe half a dozen,” about a strong wood smell Sept. 22, and noted that the city’s Public Works Department had continued to receive similar calls Sept. 23.

While Public Works is “tracking” the matter, according to Buell, he also suggested that those who notice the wood smell call the Clean Air Agency at 1-800-552-3565, ext. 6, and leave their names, phone numbers, addresses and brief details of their odor complaints.

“Call as soon as you notice it,” Buell said. “That helps them track the smell to its source.”
