MARYSVILLE – About 2,000 t-shirts were printed Oct. 19 in support of Marysville-Pilchuck High School.
The school is having A Walk of Strength event Oct. 24 in remembrance of the one-year anniversary of the shooting that left five students dead in the school cafeteria.
Gates at the school will open at 9 a.m. A brief ceremony and time of reflection will take place at 10:20 a.m. The community event will include a walk around the high school and the opportunity to plant tulip bulbs.
The Tulalip Tribes paid for t-shirts for school students, faculty and volunteers. They also are available for purchase at www.mpmemorial.org.
The t-shirts were designed by students and printed at Design Matrix, which has been printing shirts in support of M-P since right after the shooting.
Karmin Kipper of Design Matrix said within a week of the tragedy they had printed 600 t-shirt. Kipper said the company, which has been in town 30 years, was able to give back $5,000 to Marysville Crisis Support.
Most of the shirts are Oxford gray, but about 100 will be white. It took about five hours to print the shirts.
