MARYSVILLE — In the only contested race in Marysville, for Position 5 on the City Council, first-term incumbent Rob Toyer received 60.5 percent, or 2,452 votes, while challenger Clarence Shaw received 38.81 percent, or 1,573 votes.
Toyer confessed to being “a little shocked” at being so far ahead, even as he acknowledged the advantages of incumbency.
“You have that edge of name recognition, plus all the incumbent council members in Marysville seem to get re-elected pretty easily,” Toyer said. “That tells me our citizens feel like we’re doing a good job.”
Toyer looks forward to dealing with waterfront and transportation projects in his next term.
