MARYSVILLE — City Councilman Rob Toyer said Wednesday he will not seek re-election as he is running for Snohomish County treasurer next year instead.
Toyer’s been on the council two terms. He’s been on the finance committee and the fire district commission. Toyer, 37, served in the Marine Corps Reserves from 2001-07 and was deployed overseas for Operation Iraqi Freedom. Toyer started his financial company, Toyer Wealth Management, in 2010.
County Councilman Brian Sullivan also is leaning toward running for treasurer in 2019. The current treasurer, Kirke Sievers, cannot run again because of term limits.
The county treasurer is responsible for collecting property taxes and investing certain county funds. The job is nonpartisan and pays $136,356 next year.
