MARYSVILLE — Two Marysville men were apprehended Nov. 24 on suspicion of separate sex crimes against children.

A 31-year-old Marysville man was booked into Snohomish County Jail Nov. 24 for investigation of three counts of first-degree rape of a child, on allegations of raping a 5-year-old boy and two girls, ages 7 and 9, during a sleep-over at the man’s home.

According to a police affidavit filed Nov. 25 in Everett District Court, the children’s mother heard the three children describing how the man had touched them.

Police reported that the man, whom the family had regarded as a friend, initially denied these allegations, but allegedly said afterward that he may have touched the children by accident.

In another case, a 45-year-old Marysville man was booked into Snohomish County Jail Nov. 24 for investigation of possession of child pornography, second-degree rape of a child and sexual exploitation of a minor, the latter on allegations of taking nude photos of two children living in his home.

According to another police affidavit filed Nov. 25 in Everett District Court, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents connected the man’s credit card to child pornography Web sites, after which Marysville police searches of his home in April found evidence that his computers contained thousands of images of children having sex. The court paper also said the police searches indicated that the man had taken nude photos of his son and sexually abused his girlfriend’s daughter, who lived in the home.

According to the court document, the daughter told detectives who interviewed her that the man showed her pornography, took nude photos of her and touched her.

The man had previously posted bond after being jailed for investigation of drug charges, and according to detectives, the police searches also revealed that a hidden crawl space in the home contained a marijuana-growing operation.
