Snohomish County is urging residents to consider recycling their Christmas trees after the holidays.
County residents may be able to sign up for tree pick-up services from local youth organizations, or take their trees to community drop-off sites. Donations are sometimes requested.
Members of Marysville-area Boy Scout troops 80, 81, 82, 84 and 419 will pick up Christmas trees in Marysville Jan. 9 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and request that trees by placed curbside by 8 a.m. Donations will go toward scouting activities and turn trees into mulch and chips that will be used at the Strawberry Fields for Rover Off-Leash Park, as well as surrounding trails.

Members of Arlington-area Boy Scout Troop 29 are collecting trees Jan. 2-3 until 3 p.m. both days at the Arlington City Hall.
Arlington residents can also place their trees curbside by 9 a.m. either day.
Trees free of all decorations, tinsel and stands will be accepted, but flocked trees will not.
Volunteers from the city of Arlington Parks and Recreation Department are donating a wood chipper and crews to chip up the collected trees. The chips are likely be donated to the Stillaguamish Valley Pioneer Museum, and are often used in trails and other projects.
Donations can be made payable to Boy Scout Troop 29 and sent to 3809 234th Street NE, Arlington WA 98223.
County residents whose with curbside yard debris collection service from their garbage collectors should check with their operators for instructions on when, where and how to leave their trees for pick up.
County residents may also be able to take their trees to local compost facilities, although prices and hours will vary. For more information about compost facilities in your area, go to the Washington State Department of Ecology’s Web site at https://fortress.wa.gov/ecy/recycle.
Those who want compost or mulch for their yards may chip their own trees.
The county also invites residents to take their trees to recycling and transfer stations, whose locations are listed at www.snoco.org/Departments/Public_Works/Divisions/SolidWaste/Facilities. The charge is $5 per tree, effective through March 31.
